Almost daily I follow the SC 13G filings posted by the SEC and on October 4th I noticed that Roche Finance had acquired 12.7% of Jasper Therapeutics (JSPR). A bit more "digging" revealed that Amgen had acquired 7.4% and Qiming U.S. Healthcare Fund II had acquired 16% of JSPR.

The significance of the Roche and Amgen purchases were clear - both leading biotech firms. I then Googled Qiming and learned the following:

Qiming Venture Partners was founded in China in 2006 and has over $5.54 billion in total assets under management. In January 2017, Qiming launched its first US-based fund, focused on early-stage healthcare opportunities in the United States and Europe. Situated in the major life science hubs of Cambridge, the San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle, we invest in highly disruptive platforms and products addressing significant unmet medical needs, driven by passionate and committed teams with the depth and experience to succeed.

So, three presumably savvy biotech companies had collectively acquired 36% of JSPR. Their tacit imprimatur overwhelmed my ignorance of JSPR and I added 2,000 shares at $10.59. The price dipped a bit following my discovery, but today JSPR is up significantly on a huge % increase in volume - with no apparent news.on Yahoo. Anyone have information that might explain the extraordinary increase in price and volume?
