The "earnings season" will soon be upon us. As you recall from the
interem report, Stone management was positive about year end.

The article I posted from China Everbright was even more so.

In addition, I wrote to Sir William Purves at HSBC, PLC around the
end of the year. While his reply was not an official statement by any
means, and should NOT be taken by anyone as such, he trusted that
myself & fellow shareholders in the midwest would not be disappointed
with the bank in 1998.

My daily Hong Kong reports are cautiously bullish. As you know, I
too am bullish. I'm also aware some bulls get neutered. <BG>
