Mr funk-
Don't get the impression I think there isn't all sorts of tricky stuff going on. By the way Cramer doesn't know all, I always see wild trading on Instinet after earnings on intel and those stocks, alot of speculation and panic. I had some intel coming ointo yesterday's upgrades and the instinet action made me kick it out before the open, only to watch it go up 3+. Do I think I was manipulated? no, stocks go up and down and we buy and sell where we feel it's right. I am sure you are aware that Instinet is completely anonymous, you could be trading with your next door neighbor or someone in the far east. I believe the MM's however, have to reflect their Instinet bids or offers in the Level2 quote as a rule. That may not apply to after hours though.
