Eventually all laptops die on you, but I've gone through all sorts of brands and have decided on Lenovo. I should mention though that I only get the Thinkpad line, which is the old IBM line. Lenovo did not mess that up when they bought it from IBM and kept it separate from their own native Lenovo line.

Mine is a Lenovo Carbon X1. It is very light and a pleasure to carry. But they went a bit too minimalistic on it. A couple of status LEDs to let you know for example if the HD is running would not have taken any space.
