Hi Rim,

The values of most late model and low mileage vehicles have all sky rocketed up in value.

There is a shortage of new vehicles in dealers inbentory and they are not being discounted.

This has created a higher demand for like new vehicles.

Last month my Chrysler store had 2 cars and 22 trucks in inventory at month end.

Our "normal" inventory level would be 100 to 125 vehicles. (90% trucks - most of which would be 3/4 ton and 1 ton Cummins diesels).

Chip shortage is for real. When the pandemic first became aware, chip orders were canceled. It was a complete surprise that new vehicle purchases stayed strong. (A trillion here and a trillion there handed out to every one but the high income earners gets spent.

Never saw it before, but when the checks got issued, our average down payment went up by several thousand.

People wonder about inflation, it is alive and well, till it all gets spent.

Think of the PPP money , it was so big it reduced demand for commercial loans at the money center banks. It turned out to be a tax free capitalization boost to all small businesses.

Very strange historical times.

Some saved and some frittered it away.

All assets got a boost.

I should sell my second home and third truck!

Bob
