The next MacOS is apparently going to come with a "lite" version as well, probably not a true embedded OS though: The latest sign of this plan is the developmental Allegro Lite, a version (or versions) of Mac OS 8.2 which will run on as-yet-unreleased MessagePad and eMate models as well as on Apple's new Mac NC. more at macosrumors.com
