AI, Robotics and the Singularity
Ccube,
If you're really interested in the current status and future of AI & Robotics, I suggest you also read the AI, Robotics and Automation message board moderated by my friend, Glenn Petersen, linked below:
Subject 59856
This message board has posts on all relevant achievements in AI and Robotics, especially NVIDIA, Google and Baidu, and market trends and information. E.g., today I posted on super-intelligent AI and the Singularity, that time in the not too distant future when AI becomes more intelligent than humans, growing exponentially to a super AI. of course, dystopisan science fiction has predicted the emergence of super AI's for decades.

Also, read the message board Introduction Header which was recently completely revised by Glenn Petersen, and read John Pitera's original 2017 Introduction Header which can be found under Revision History under "More". John foresaw the role NVIDIA would play in the AI revolution.
Lastly, I have three book recommendations:
- “Artificial Intelligence Revolution: How AI Will Change Our Society, Economy, And Culture” by Baidu CEO Robin Li
The co-founder of Baidu explains how AI will transform human livelihood, from our economy and financial systems down to our daily lives.
Written by Baidu cofounder Robin Li and prefaced by award-winning sci-fi writer Cixin Liu (author of The Three-Body Problem), Artificial Intelligence Revolution introduces Baidu’s teams of top scientists and management as pioneers of movement toward AI. The book covers many of the latest AI-related ideas and technological developments, such as:
- Computational ability
- Big data resources
- Setting the basic standards of AI in research and development
- An introduction to the “super brain”
- Intelligent manufacturing
- Deep learning
- L4 automated vehicles
- Smart finance
The book describes the emergence of a “smart” society powered by technology and reflects on the challenges humanity is about to face. Li covers the most pressing AI-related ideas and technological developments, including: Will artificial intelligence replace human workers, and in what sectors of the economy? How will it affect healthcare and finance? How will daily human life change? Robin Li’s Artificial Intelligence Revolution addresses these questions and more from the perspective of a pioneer of AI development. It's a must-read for anyone concerned about the emergence of a “smart” society powered by technology and the challenges humanity is about to face.
- "AI Superpowers: China, Silicon Valley, and the New World Order" by Kai-Fu Lee
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a branch of computer science devoted to creating computer systems that perform tasks characteristic of human intelligence. And one of the hottest questions around AI today is who is going to win the global race for AI competitive advantage: the United States or China.
Jumping into this debate is Kai-Fu Lee, a Chinese computer scientist. Lee, the author of AI-Superpowers, is head of Sinovation Ventures, a Chinese venture capital firm, and before that was president of Google China. So Lee has both deep understanding of AI and U.S. and Chinese technology companies.
AI Superpowers is really two books. The first half of the book, a discussion of AI and the U.S. and Chinese companies competing for advantage, is extremely accessible and informative. The second half, which delves into the economic implications of AI, reinforces my belief that computer scientists should stick to computer science and leave economics to economists.

Written by former president of Google China, Kai-Fu Lee ("AI Superpowers"), in partnership with acclaimed sci-fi novelist Chen Qiufan ("Waste Tide"), "AI 2041" acts as an optimistic guide toward an uncertain tomorrow in which next-gen tech melds with society and industry. In these 10 insightful short stories, Lee and Qiufan introduce readers to a variety of eye-opening 2041 settings like Tokyo, Mumbai, San Francisco, Munich and Seoul.
