This is sort of an off topic but I feel this would perhaps be the thread to expect some reasonable answer for my question. My question has to do with AMD but the AMD thread seems to be like a soap opera and the ego and personal attacks between the participants do not seem to let a meaningful discussion to take place! So my apologies to my fellow LSI share holders for bringing up the AMD subject here but I need some of your insights.

I recently bought AMD a couple of days ago at $20.25 after following the company for about a year on an on/off basis. Based on their fundamentals (P/S, book value, etc.) the stock seem to be very cheap with its current price of around $19-$20/shr. I think they are the only viable competitor to go against Intel and with the sub $1000 PCs they have a pretty good chance of making it big time. Further I think there is a good possibility that CPQ may try to buy them out (especially now that they have bought DEC). However, having said all these, this morning AMD management came out and said that they are shutting their doors to the Wall Street con-artists (i.e. analysts). And this of course was not taken kindly by those analysts!

Can anyone give a reason as why AMD would do such a thing and to go head to head against the so called analysts who have billions of dollars of their big shot clients? I am a long term investor but now I have become a bit concerned with the longer term prospects of AMD. I appreciate anyone's thought on this.

Regards and many thanks in advance,

Addi Jamshidi
