France and China are building them. But unfortunately in Germany, and to a lesser extent in the US, plants are being phased out early.

One of the biggest knocks on nuclear is the high cost to build the plants (doesn't have to be so high as detailed in my other posts here but it is currently very high). After spending all that money though you get pretty cheap, reliable, base load power for decades. Shutting down plants early gives you the worst of both worlds. You put in the huge investment, and then you don't get the benefit from it.
