"Instead of trying to get the "progressive" wing of the Democrat party to understand the reality of a 50-50 split in the Senate, they acted like they had a supermajority in Congress."

They took the wrong message from '18. Their wins in liberal districts gave them a sense of invincibility, but they didn't realize we took over the House because we flipped the purple districts. They responded by bringing out the entire 50 year socialist wish list You could see it in the early debates. Then, when Brandon won in '20, they didn't notice they had lost a lot of those purple districts because of "socialism" and "defund the police".

The infrastructure bill is pretty big and bold. So is the human infrastructure bill, regardless of the final amount; prolly too bold. Acutely correcting chronic problems can kill the body physiologic, and I suspect the same thing happens to the body politic. It's one thing to tout job creation when there is 10% unemployment, and quite another when there are already more jobs than seekers. We're setting up a wage price inflation spiral.

It cudda been worse. Bernie started out at $6T, but I suspect he wanted twice that.
