Do you remember the movie "War of the Roses?"
en.wikipedia.org

Shortly after this movie I came up with my "War of the Presses" investment thesis as the only way the US, California and the very blue cities would be able to handle their massive pension liabilities and unbalanced budgets.

My solution was to buy GARP stocks and get THREE loans to buy the biggest plot of land with a house on it in one of the most desirable areas to lock in value for something nobody can make more of.

Will the Fed, or any other central bank, be able to not roll over maturing government bonds to reduce the money supply? Or after QE ends will they require the government to buy the bonds on the open market while they also raise short term rates?

German and Japan may have provided the ultimate clues... negative rates where savers scared of bubbles in equities PAY the government to hold their money.

We'll see. Interesting times.
