Yes, we are likely to head towards a global electricity system.
Why do you think this is a good thing? This is so problematic on many levels.

Instead of Europe having to negotiate with North Africa for trans-Mediterranean power, for example, the overlords of a "global electricity system" can simply dictate terms to North Africa. Screw all of the unintended consequences, like water consumption for their molten salt solar generators, as long as Europe can brag about moving toward a "renewable future."

Meanwhile you can guess that one of those "global electricity system" overlords will be China. And I would trust China to meet CO2 emission goals like I would trust sushi from a Wyoming gas station.

People don't like globalism, Wharfie, especially when it leads to centralized control and foreign bureaucrats overruling local leaders.
