Looks like BC has some big decisions facing it after whatever the recovery looks post this event.
Reading up on Sumas Lake and the Barrowtown pumping station it reminds me of the Katrina aftermath.
G&M had a photo essay on a flood in 1948(?) in the same area. Similar devastation but a lot less population and infrastructure affected.
Huge losses in the livestock industry in the valley.

Unfathomable to this flatlander.

Pumps, canals, dikes, they seem to be great until they aren't.
