product ad.

just put an Athlon 3x9 with illuminated reticle on 1 ar15. Didn't want to spend the money on night vision but wanted to see reticle in the dark. Used to use a laser that matched the point of impact of my other scope out to about 200 yard. The laser would light up the target and then the reticle was visible. With this scope the laser is still on the pic rail but probably doesn't need to be active for night work.

Considering glass/metal/tolerances and mechanicals in general I think this scope is one of the best buys out there. Paid a bit over 100$. I have several scopes that would cost 600$ today and I'm not sure they are much better and are certainly not clearer.
