And, a news article addressing the aftermath...
Students in Philly train attack caught on video expected to be hit with assault charges
In my experience of such things, I think it unlikely that the incident was entirely "unprovoked"... otherwise the language you see being used in the response being delivered makes no real sense at all. But, that probability of there being some provocation being addressed is still obviously also not an excuse that justifies the obvious excess and lack of self control clearly displayed in the feral nature of the retaliation...
Clearly, the system has FAILED even in teaching kids how to deal with simple adversity... that is in no way at all unique to kids who are growing up today. The social dysfunction being fostered in the schools to blame, in part... for filling kids heads with mush and not holding them accountable for behaving as more than animals... as if "The Lord of the Flies" was the desired end state being sought in "Socials Studies" now ?
And, that's why civilized people don't choose to live in the crappiest parts of Philly... or those similar corners in any other urban center in America... where most of the people who are living there would also really rather be living almost anywhere else... but seem unable to just... find a way to leave ?
But, lots of other things that are probably worth commenting on in there, too...
One being... I saw similar crap happening in my middle school years often enough when I was a kid... and, for the most part... it somehow got sorted out without ever needing the involvement of cops.... much less PROSECUTORS getting involved in what boils down to school yard fights among kids... which don't really appear to be any different now than they were 50 years ago... except for being captured on someone's cell phone and being uploaded to Youtube... where everyone can be outraged by it and demand justice ?
That's just as insane as the behavior of the kids...
The behavior of the kids is actually the least disturbing part of it... versus the abdication of responsibility by the adults... while they are fostering responses that subject kids to the criminal justice system for corrections... instead of holding the parents... and other adults... accountable for behaving like adults ?
Obviously, the entire "social" system in Philly is broken... not that thats unique for a liberal city... which is why sane people don't choose to live in those cities... and why those few sane people who still do are leaving, now...
Seattle ? Portland ? San Francisco ? Yeah... the insanity is bi-coastal... but, it is also not "incidental"... but it does appear to be more rapidly consuming itself, these days...
We've seen the same crap often enough before... remarkably enough have gone full circle... from the social decay and urban violence similarly fostered in the parallel time as we're living though today of the 1970's... and into the reversals enabled with change and proper leadership in the 1980's... the changes made having an impact in generating civility, civic pride and social responsibility along with reductions in crime that lasted almost forty years... before bad leadership was able to destroy all of that, again. Giuliani as mayor... fixed New York... made it livable again... and look at it now ?
The current crop of Democratic leaders are FOSTERING and cheer leading that same behavior in adults... as they supported BLM in burning down Kenosha and in attempting to murder Kyle Rittenhouse... and today they are still rabid in pursuit of the victim... seeking to hold him "accountable" for "almost" being murdered by a criminal ?
Why is anyone surprised to see 13 to 16 year old kids mimicking behaviors the adults are encouraging ? |
