Re: Middle Age Portfolio ... Planned moves for Monday.

One of the tasks a portfolio manager needs to do is to rebalance portfolios on occasion and see where they stand in regard to other positions.

Sometimes profits need to be taken before the market takes them from us. Sometimes under-performers need to be replaced, and other times some positions get much larger than the other holdings and need to be brought back down in size while building the others up in size.

The key here is that you don't want too much exposure to any one income producing asset so that you can manage the income flows better both from upside and downside forces.

With this in mind Monday morning I will be trimming JNJ.

With the proceeds from that sale I will buying or adding to:
APD .. ASG .. LLY .. LSI .. MS.

Here are the important facts.

The positions I am selling represent the following:

Market Value - $9,773
Income - $254
Yield - 2.60%
Dividend Growth - 5.9%

The positions I am buying represent:

Market Value - $9,749
Income - $302
Yield - 3.10%
Dividend Growth - 13.0%

Bottom Line:

A little more immediate income, a slightly better yield, but more importantly much greater dividend growth going forward.
