ok, since you brought up 'personal perspective'.. your youth.
youth situations are uniquely yours and yours alone. for some odd reasons, a few of us like to set fire to garbage cans in the alleys in the south side of Chicago. Now I'm thinking, holy shit!
But the odd thing is, that one of my older brother's best friend, in later years, had the same mention doing that.
so, stupid kids doing stupid things, all in the ages must be 5, 6, 7yrs old.
be advised, twice I got caught by the cops (for other things).. my father retrieving my sorry ass at the precinct jail. I saw him laughing with the desk sgt.. at my early age I'm thinking something is not quite right.
for whatever reason, I did not attract hostility very much, but also I never backed down whatever situation dictated. I fought my weenie younger brother's battles (mommy's pretty boy).. he had no stomach for confrontation (today, he has guns, a flag waving boot licking trumpeteer, flag/ hat & all. He talks the talk.. he's still a weenie)
so I'm thinking the right- of- passage in my youthful years dictated my adult actions going forward. I'm getting old & fragile. still, people didn't mess with me.
I never followed the crowds.
