Excellent post.

I actually lived in Lagos Nigeria for 8 months when I was in my early teens. My Dad was on a contract and took us kids down there to "broaden our minds". Your last line in that post sums up beautifully the greatest lesson that myself and my siblings learned from that experience.

<<People are people. We are all humans. We are nothing more or less. We have the same aspirations for our kids as everyone else. We hope they have the opportunity to get there. We do the best we can. I'd rather work with people than against them in the fight to improve lives and families.>>

Plus I remember the extreme kindness that we received from all the locals despite the abject poverty that was prevalent everywhere. I always remember the huge smiles and huge laughs......beautiful people.
