Worswick & Peter: Imagine the Likkud with 800,000 million Hindu members. That is the BJP.
They are not all that bad Worswick. I guess people are worried about their 'Hindutva' ideology, which is sort of a 'cultural nationalism' and I don't think this has anything to do with Hindu fundamentalism, at least this is what they are saying.Besides a lot of the stuff that they are saying might be just political rhetoric,a vote-getting strategy as you know we got some 50% or so illiterate people and one has to speak the language they know which is not macro/micro economics, foreign policy or anything like that but most likely one thing they understand is religion. I consider a lot of their proposed agenda is a ploy to get votes by raising one's fear, insecurities and 'nationalism'. It looks as though many of their proposals are just too naive and simplistic to be implemented. It sounds pretty good to your average illiterate Indians and some educated ones as well and I guess that is what counts in an election.
It doesn't really matter what Sankar, I and others like us think as we are not there.
What we are talking about here is a human disaster of Stalin/Hitler/ Pol Pot proportions fastened upon India, and then the world, by adherents of the BJP.
Come on Worswick, now that is a harsh comparison and nothing could be farther from the truth.
