No............don't necessarily want or need to buy in an over 55 community, and you have a good point about kids.....they really are fun to be around. We'd definitely need to spend a winter in Fl traveling around and exploring. Other than flying in or out, we've never toured the west coast. Whenever I've looked on line I've pretty much focused in on a single family residence with pool.

I'd really like to be down in Key West, but I"m afraid that affording anything decent (or not so much) in that area is a bit above our pay grade.

some over 55 places have better support systems for very old folks. But I hope not to need them for some more years.

Yep........we're some ways away from that category, and I could see it being kind of a stuffy environment. I don't need to be reminded every day of what's to come. A friend in Phoenix lives in one of the Sun City communities and she really doesn't like being around a lot of 80 something folks. She and I are both quite active and she can't even get any of the ladies to take a walk with her. It's all knitting clubs and card playing. That would honestly drive me nuts. Although I'd definitely join the cribbage and backgammon groups, as well as a book club. ;)
