Jeff - ROK and other tigers can't afford to let the last few years of growth be lost, must stay ahead of Europe and try to keep pace with the US. Currency crisis or not, they MUST keep buying the latest stuff or they're the ones who get the shaft.

The same argument could have been made about Japan 8 years ago, and it would have been wrong. They knew they had to keep investing to keep market share, but they couldn't do it. They invested enough to keep making the same amount, but not enough to grow. However, it didn't hurt the semi equ companies for long since other countries soon filled the void (Korea and US in that instance, Taiwan, Singapore, US and Europe in this instance).
