A Model?
Why information on IBS....Because....it answers one ton of questions I have had in my mind...on the flow....of the coin.
'IBS will use its internally-developed software to convert a variety of legacy statement data streams into complete, interactive web-based statements. Through CheckFree's new E-Bill service, consumers will be able to visit a single financial institution Web site to both receive and pay bills electronically on their personal computers.'

Then there are 2 ways IBS is going to take payment...after digital presentation.
'Customers can then securely pay their bills with the touch of a button, using payment services provided by CyberCash, an IBS electronic billing partner. CyberCash's payment suite includes PayNow Secure Electronic Check and Credit Card Services. PayNow securely processes consumers' checking account information in a highly encrypted format and allows consumers to write electronic checks.
Checks written with PayNow will appear on consumers' monthly checking account statements in the same way as debit card transactions.
Billers may also choose to deliver customer statements through electronic bill consolidation services announced by several leading consumer software and financial services companies, including MSFDC, CheckFree, Intuit and others. Such consolidation services seek to assemble several of a consumer's electronic statements in a single location, so the consumer need access only a single Web site to view and pay multiple bills.'

...............................................................
The first paragraph...explains Checkfrees, preference to consolidate at financial institutions.
CyberCash's position in this thing relates to a payment being made from the billers site....possibly...if they are not using a consolidator. ie. if the customer elects to pay at the web site of the Biller? And the biller does not have a contracted payment service of their own? [A checkfree or an MSFDC]
Then you have your consolidators; Principle players.
1) Checkfree on site at financial institution?
2) MSFDC off Site?
3) Intuit off Site?
I'm sure this is just the way IBS is running their show, and I haven't answered all my questions on that one either.
Other Billers AEP/checkfree, ?????/msfdc....I'm sure will all doing this very similar, or slightly different. Toss a Coin.
All I know for sure is 3 names keep appearing in the press on this, and one of those you can't invest in.
...............................................................
And moreover it seems to be a consumer preference issue, as to who gets the bulk of e-Bill/e-Pay business.
For the guy & gal who don't use a Quicken or MSmoney...looks like you may have a choice;
1) Go to every one of your different billers websites. View and Pay the Bills.[NOW]
That would be great if you only had one bill.
2) Go to your Bank, where your bills are all consolidated for you to review and pay. via a Checkfree[NOW] or MSFDC[TESTING].
or 3) If you use multiple Banks, or use the Quicken or Money product to track your finances. You might be inclined to have your billing viewable directly from your Financial Software Program. Which basically means Intuit[TESTING] or MicroSoft.[FUTURE?]
There may be many more options, but I can't think of them. Now I personally would choose option #3, it fits for me. But I think most people would choose option #2.
Anybody want to jump in on this feel free. Again I'm just thinking out loud. |
