I just put it together yesterday for someone so there's nothing to back test on yet.

These were immediate needs to reach a specific income number in a very short time. This set up will accomplish that and once it is in place, then adjustments can be made as necessary whether it's adding more equities, or adding more CEF's.

The understanding was there would be a sacrifice for capital gains to insure the income flow.

That portfolio was designed for a very specific person with a very specific goal, I had one year to hit the income number. Since I was able to hit the income target, I was able to stick a few more equities in the portfolio.

I do manage portfolios with yields higher than that, up in the 7% range but there isn't much income growth from year to year, it all has to be created internally.
