My thinking is that for a bullish pattern, *after* the C point is confirmed, you sell puts below the D target. If it hits it, then you have the contracts you need for the bounce. If it doesn't, then you made money selling worthless options. The only risk is if it hits it and keeps going. Alternatively, once the pattern is complete, buy calls instead of the futures.
