Very intriguing and I'm sorry to hear you are going thru this.

I have a few questions:

1. past reactions have they been typically at the same time of the year?
2. Have you in the past logged your activities. Not easy I realize but are there patterns of activity preceding.....which could be as broad as geographic location....or as narrow as a dietary pattern for example. Or similar patterns of stress.......which could have resulted in subsequent altered sleep patterns, altered diets, etc.

So I do think you are on the right track when you say two issues with the larger issue being something more often dormant until your system is under stress.
There are many viruses that live dormant in our nervous system.....and only show up when our natural immune system is under attack.

Saying that.......I'm in the alternative health field......and our focus is often not adding to your system...but subtracting and giving the natural immune system opportunity to do what it is meant to do. Clearing the road blocks so to speak.
The skin is the garbage dump of the body.......when your system is functioning well......toxins etc. are appropriately eliminated out.......when under stress they often get stored in the skin........to be excreted at a later date. Jaundice in a new born, rashes, etc. so I'd say your skin reaction is related.

The allergic aspect I'm not really sure.....but your Doc may not be wrong when they comment on auto immune. To use a personal example....I contracted poison ivy (I'm in Canada) years ago.....bad enough to require steroid therapy. I recovered but if my system gets run down....I get what looks exactly like poison ivy all over again......summer winter ....makes no difference.....totally related to getting run down. My example is autoimmune related......so yours could be too.

The question is what was the original trigger/cause.

But my thought is focus less on trying to identify what the underlying issue is and focusing more on what you can do to ensure your immune system is functioning at its best. Clearly for most of the year you are able to combat......by your own words it is when you get run down that this has shown in the past. Like mentioned many viruses etc. live dormant.......they are not going away so keep them dormant.

Have you ever seen a Naturopath? and/or Accupuncture/Chinese medicine....and lastly one that also is trained in something called Applied Kinesiology.......(which is a way of asking the body questions and getting answers back)

Anyway I truly am sorry to hear what you are going thru and thought I 'd provide an alternative point of view.
