Some hope from South Africa regarding omicron Peter (Biomaven) tweeted the link below. It contains suggestions that the variant is more infectious and less virulent, so it’s more likely to infect ( and perhaps reinfect) but less likely to be serious. If it confers immunity against other variants then maybe COVID is on its way to becoming an inconvenience for all but the very weak. Something like mild flu - what some claimed at the start. Killing or incapacitating its host confers no advantage on a virus.
