As a certified tree-hugger and saver from way back here in the beautiful
Arbor state, Nebraska, with a background in environmental solution generation
to boot, I'd like to point out a few things to a typical Manhattanite...

Nothing happens in a vacuum. California environmental regulators are among
the most sophisticated in all the land. We have established a good
relationship with them and that counts for more than you could possibly
know unless, like me for the last 25 years, you have actual experience
with regulators on local and national levels with significant environmental
issues. You are correct regarding platinum and how it will be viewed by
environmentalists not pursuing personal campaigns or hired like strike
breakers of yore to move in and cause trouble all around.

I have suggested to the company that they consider over-engineering and
other strategies to fend off any possible non-political environmental
attack. Regarding a politically or economically motivated assault on Naxos
it will require the complicity of some local person who could be imputed
to be in some kind of jeopardy as a result of our mining activities.
No outside pressure without that local irritant is likely to go anywhere.
It's just the way it seems to work.

As an active environmentalist with credentials, I have pursued this angle
pretty seriously for the past couple of years and offer myself as the
bell weather for this thread in that regard. I will do my best to make
sure we will never experience any negative reactions except those that
money can buy. There's no stopping those.
