Glenayre Western Multiplex Boosts International Sales
Ranks, Targets Latin America

Company Appoints VP International Sales, MD Latin America Sales

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Glenayre Western Multiplex has made two new
senior management appointments which will help the company expand its wireless interconnect
product line into fast-growing international markets.

John H. Saefke recently jointed the company at its headquarters as vice president of International
Sales, overseeing GWM's operations in Latin America and Asia. Saefke came to GWM from
California Microwave's MNS Division, where he was a senior vice president responsible for
developing markets in China and Russia. He also previously served as director of sales/Far East
for Harris Farinon.

Joining him to assist Glenayre Western Multiplex develop key target markets is John A. Malkut,
managing director of sales for Latin America. Malkut, originally from Brazil, will be responsible
for establishing a strong dealer representative network in Latin America and for establishing
relationships with the telecommunications industry.

Malkut was previously director of Sales-Latin America and Europe for Repeater Technologies
Inc. of Sunnyvale. He also served as a sales and marketing manager in Latin America for The
Allen Telecom Group. He will work out of an office in Denver, Colo., reporting to Saefke.

''We see the international arena as a major growth area for GWM's digital spread spectrum
radios,'' said Saefke. ''With John Malkut on board, we are positioned to take part in rapid
growth underway in several Latin American markets, where demand for wireless interconnect is
high among telcos, cellular and paging companies, along with private network operators such as
railways and pipeline companies.''

Malkut said he saw particular opportunities in Brazil, which is licensing competitive cellular
carriers in 10 regions throughout the country, as well as in Argentina, Colombia and Chile.

''These countries are enjoying strong economies and people are looking to improve their
telecommunications infrastructure,'' Malkut observed. ''In many instances they are going
directly to wireless networks in favor of outmoded wireline ones, creating great demand for the
type of interconnect products manufactured by Glenayre Western Multiplex.''
