I will wait until the Java product line plays out in the 3-4 year time frame before I sell regardless of the price. I expect revenue to at least hold with VisualWorks upgrades to 3.0 and some purchases now that companies see that ObjectShare will not likely go under any time soon. If VW 3.0 to be announced this month, makes substantial improvements with the memory footprint of runtime images through their "improved parcels" they even have a chance to win back some of the Smalltalk market share that recently has gone almost exclusively to IBM. Although Java will be a larger market it will be split many ways and the success that Object Share has in regaining some of the Smalltalk market will have the biggest impact on their earnings over the next two years. As long as at least two major players remain in the Smalltalk market (IBM and ObjectShare currently) there will be a substantial market for these products for quite some time. According to an IDC survey Smalltalk has grown 25% per year over the last few years and is expected to grow through the year 2000. This gives Object Share two shots at license revenue (Java and Smalltalk lines).

I purchased at $2.65 per share so I am still in the red. I will hold until I think the stock is fairly valued or overvalued based on the market, their products, cash, cash flow, and license revenue. I belive they are substantially underpriced now given their near breakeven results during the transition to Java and to profitability, each of which has had substantial impacts on their high margin license revenues.
