Saju:

If you are going for an interview for the analyst position (at Goldman Sachs, Smith Barney, painwebber, Prudential, or any other one of these brokerage houses) you must have the following qualifications:

1. Know how to kiss up to the big clients with billions of money and should be prepared to steal, cheat and lie for them and on their behalf .

2. Have shown a proven track record of conning little people out of money (several felony and/or misdemeanor arrests would definitely help to prove your qualification in this area!).

3. And most important of all you should have absolutely no problem to step over your morals and ethical values in order to make a few more dollars for your big clients.

If you have the above basic and essential qualifications you will do just fine.

You ask:
> is it worth it and what is the pay like?

Well, according to CNBC in 1997 the average pay for analysts who upgraded/downgraded stocks was at around $2.5 million (and please realize that based on the strength of the analysts qualifications as mentioned earlier this number number is in fact higher)!

As for wether it is worth it?! Well, I personally love money (and let me emphasize on this: I do love money!, and I do strongly believe it does bring happiness!), however even I could not ever possibly come to convince myself to acquire/learn the qualifications of being an analyst eventhough it will bring me a lot of money!
