If it did get to 108 degrees as they said,,,, I believe. I rode in 120 degrees in the Mojave. We were monitored continua;;y and given water, ice, pickle juice, Gatorade, food. A lot of people got in the van and one was pulled off the course. Cycling is easier than walking...If you are at the bottom and start back up .. that could be extremely difficult and they had a baby and dog in tow.

Given that though, they had a phone and it should be massively investigated..
