Hi Everyone,
As Seeking Alpha's VP of Product, I'd like to update everyone about what's going on with blogs and this amazing community.
We are in the process of retiring our blog platform as it has become a real liability for us. Allowing anyone to publish posts without editorial review allows troublemakers to utilize the Seeking Alpha brand to publish unverified content. We've had instances of other outlets publishing stories based on blogs such as "Seeking Alpha reports etc.." when these blog posts have not been fact checked or vetted by our editorial team. Policing this using moderation tactics is a cat and mouse game which we don't want to continue doing.
Now this community really hasn't been using blogs in the traditional sense. You've been leveraging our great comment functionality within blogs. The blog posts themselves are just a reference point to start an ongoing discussion. An unfortunate consequence of retiring the blog platform is that we also need to close commenting here.
However, we would love to keep this community thriving on Seeking Alpha. We therefore decided to grant all members of this community a free 1 year subscription to Seeking Alpha Premium. This not only allows you to be part of the new Premium chat platform (where we've opened a Dividend Investing room for you), but it also gives you access to tons of Premium features. These include quant ratings, dividend ratings, ETF grades, and top stock lists. We are also adding new features all the time such as our "stock warnings" which warn you about potential underperformance within your portfolio. We are also soon adding "Dividend Cut Warnings" which help you avoid dividend cuts.
You really have nothing to lose by trying this for a year. You will get access to Premium for that entire time. This community can all stay together and have even more powerful features in chat such as images, video, and direct messaging. After that, we'll decide what to do next based on how things are going in the chat. There's no decision yet about whether or not we'll charge for chat access.
We would love to maintain the free Premium access we granted the active members here. However, if we see the community scatter to other platforms we will have to remove the access.
I hope this helps clear the air and I'm happy to hear any feedback.
Thanks, Daniel |
