I'm actually getting close to the same decision as your wife had. However, since my Wife will still be working for a couple of years after I retire, I do not wish to pull it all out of the 403(b) at once.

Will probably layer it out over a period of time. A given percentage each year, depending on our overall income. The 403(b) is large, and the Traditional IRA is also quite large. RMDs will be quite expensive. However, that's called a "success tax", and I can handle it when looking at it from that view.
