What is funny is myself and everyone I know around here goes out of the way to NOT own anything with all these chips in them.
At the auctions, people buy 2nd and 3rd backup appliances because they are simple, last long and are easy to repair. I've mentioned here before, I have 1960s iron horse era JD tractors. The new ones require the dealer to fix anything, even running out of fuel due to the software on them. The old ones are like an old car from the era. I will admit I put an electronic ignition on my little everyday tractor but I still have the points and condenser if I ever needed to go back.
I even have 3 old 60s Oster blenders. I'm not sure why. The one I've been using for the last 40 years is still going strong. -g- I sleep with a fan on in the room for white noise. Always have. The fan is a 1940s Emerson that has the oiling ports. That heavy metal behemoth will probably still be going long after these modern plastic ones have all died.
We used to make good stuff.
