I'm not keeping up these days...

Have heard noises out of Auburn saying that they (the guys running it) think their NIL program will kick ass... and the local pundits seem to be convinced...

But, obviously, there's a whole new competition occurring, and I'm not keeping it up with it... so can't really comment on the probabilities resulting from one effort or another...

Transfer portal... same thing. The sport has changed dramatically... and I don't think anyone is really on top of the potentials in where this is going...

Musical chairs in head coaching jobs also occludes the view of the landscape in the next tier...

Sorry to hear that Clemson will be in the market for new OC and DC... as I'd rather have the field left a bit more wide open... but, not like it isn't going to be a target rich environment anyway... for a little while.

As an Auburn fan... I'd like to think that the two issues might link up in interesting ways... So that the turmoil at LSU and Oregon... might make for interesting times in recruiting for both coaches and transfers... with the one enabling a bit of the other...

I'm as surprised as others... that Mario took the Miami job. I fully understand it in relation to lifestyle choices... the paycheck might go farther on the west coast... but, then, it also means you're not living the good life in Coral Gables... taking the boat out to the reef... or on a weekend trip to the Bahamas. That part I fully understand. But, as a career choice ? Hmmm. How many Oregon players gonna end up living on the beach in Florida ?

And, that's the point at which I think the NIL issue probably plays a role... one that I think many aren't considering... but, whether its Houston or Miami... the NIL issue seems like it should tend to massively advantage urban schools... and the schools in bigger and more wealthy states... far more than the rural schools and states with smaller markets ?

NIL has had a few issues emerge recently... like kids that do deals and then back out of commitments. Will be interesting to see how the issue evolves as the contract issues get sorted out over the next few cycles...

And, then... how will NIL create new opportunities to cheat in recruiting ? Probably true that all the change occurring is a godsend to probably relatively few attorneys specializing in sports related litigation ?

Auburn Houston should be a good game... but hard to predict with some AU players opting out... and with AU not having an OC ? Will be interesting to see if there's much of a difference apparent between Harsin and the former regime... when facing bowl games that don't really matter. I expect Harsin to sustain his intensity... just because he's a competitive guy... in a way that Malzahn didn't. Those hoping for an Auburn vs. Central Florida bowl game are sadly disappointed...
