To all: Aren't the MM's in the position of juggling a hot potato?
If they run the price down too much, can't they get
stuck with owning the devalued stock themselves,
because they have destroyed investor confidence?
From what little I understand of MM's ( never heard
the term until a year ago ), they actually buy the stock
from the seller and resell it to the buyer. So, if they
do manipulate the price, it would seem that there is
a rational limit to the manipulations. A friend has been
touting BAAT to me since the middle of January. He says
that he bought 50,000 shares at an average of $0.81 and
sold them at an average of $2.37 yesterday with no
real time quotes or charts to guide him. He doesn't even
own a computer! And he told me that he bought back
50,000 shares at $1.46 on a market order filled at about
1:00 PM EST, just before that downspike that he knew
nothing about! This guy has got more confidence than
anybody I ever met. He knows Joe Lastella from the Friday
night meetings of car buffs at Bob's Big Boy in Burbank. Joe
had his electric bicycles over there one night last summer.
