Projections are often the act of folly. To think the future would move forward without change is naive.

9-11 changed everything, and collective America wanted to spend money to kill people on the other side of the world.

The politicians were only doing what the polls told them the US wanted.

There was no way the US would continue a surplus. Heck, it helped contribute to the recession in 2001.

I understand where you are coming from, roto. In an ideal world, the US would have a balanced budget and pay down the debt. However, politicians figured out that the deficit is too abstract for the average American to understand and comprehend, so they have taken advantage of that.

Btw, you are up very early today!
