I think Scott Gottlieb was the head of the FDA. He’s a smart guy, but very careful and politically shrewd - from the pov of promoting his own career. In early 2020 I barraged him with tweets about the virtual absence of CoViD testing in the US. No idea if that made a difference, but it had to be done. He has a much easier life - and makes several times the money - than if he would be getting 2 am phone calls from sick patients.
