Gonna Try Chit Chat Here.

So I print off sunrise/sunset tables each year and hang 'em on the file cabinet in front of my desk. There's this thing that happens every year (and why wouldn't it be the same year-to-year?) that I've never quite understood. The winter solstice is still a few days away. But while sunrise continues getting later for some time yet - into the first week of January, today's sunset was at 5:21 after a few days at 5:20. Seems to me that earlier sunrise and later sunset should start happening at about the same time but it doesn't.

Does anyone know why this happens?
