It depends on the circumstances. Has the person achieved their income objective and built an income margin of safety?

What is the current portfolio dividend growth rate when you include all assets?

If I need or want more income, I keep going. However, if the dividend growth rate is too low, I know at some point I'm going to get distribution cuts, and if I want to keep growing a reliable and steady flow of income, I may need to put that money to work buying companies with strong dividend growth to supplement my high yield assets. Then there is inflation to starve off.

So again it all comes down to what is it you need or want your portfolio to do?
