There is endless evidence that dogs are very good in detecting danger or potential danger. There is less evidence that the majority of dog owners are able to recognize these warning calls. Most disregard warnings as in “The dog is going nuts for no reason. Just shut him up”.

We do a lot of late night dog walks in what is considered a safe neighbourhood. We never dismiss(ed) the signals our dogs give / gave when running into some unknown person in the middle of the night.
