It's funny the stuff you do as a kid that makes sense to you, but turns out badly. I remember the time when I was about 4, and my folks had this great garden. A sultry summer day was about to be fractured by a thunderstorm; my mother was talking about how dark it was getting, and said we were probably going to get lots of rain.

I went into that garden and pulled every damn carrot out of her carrot patch, lugged them into the basement in a bucket and showed them to my mother: "Mommy, now they won't get all wet". See, I loved carrots as much as I loved my teddy bear, and one time I'd left HIM out in the rain and he'd burst open and smelled bad. Didn't play that little song when I wound him up any more, either.

Maybe I was just prematurely precocious, baby carrots are in big-time, now.
