The common cold and the influenza virus have chosen that method to not go extinct. Most viruses do not mutate like that. If this virus is man-made it will almost certainly die out. Even if not it will almost certainly die out.Show me studies that the coronavirus mutates annually in bats in caves and I will worry a bit more
My guess is you have had 20 viruses that never return for every cold virus you’ve had. You just never noticed them
