To Thread: Does anyone know the actual time to drill a "typical" offshore well in the Gulf? Are most of these deep wells or fairly shallow (not water depth)? Back in the good old boom days when I worked at Shell and we drilled deep holes in Anadarko basin (Oklahoma) it took 6-12 months or more to drill a single 15000 ft. hole. I would guess that the targets of current projects are likely to be deep and take a long time to drill. If this is true this should give additional reasons why this sector is poised for long term growth.
