In the West at least, the public perception on the risks of smoking tobacco has changed utterly. The war is over.
If people still choose tobacco, at least they are aware of the health hazards. I am for the "legalization" (not the promotion) of all drugs. That would remove the criminal element in that awful trade. Yes I would include Clinton and company, many other institutions as also being in the "criminal element". Education and a social contract can do much to alleviate the rest.
A personal note. I was addicted to tobacco for decades. When Gordon Brown sold the nations gold, and put up taxes on tobacco to increase the government’s revenue stream under the guise of improving health.... I resolved to give up smoking tobacco with a grim determination. If I ever meet Gordon Brown, I will thank him for the good things he did. Really!

Emmmm, that doesn't reflect well on that Medias use of analyst’s or their definition of them.
In the Ukraine, medical authorities almost promote smoking tobacco. They do that as it gets rid of the older generation quickly and keep health care costs down. That, and the vodka. In some circles, unless your smoking a pack a day, and drinking glasses of vodka neat... your not really a man. As a recovered alcoholic, I can say drinking strong alcohol neat is a fast way into the grave. It should always be watered down. If your addicted, give it up. Difficulty in these matters is only a perception.
Our governments, all over the world, have all fallen in love with the Corona Viruses. They just can't stop talking about them. They mention them in everything, even now on tobacco sales!
This was a far healthier attitude to take imho.
