I think the necessity of economic growth needs to be reevaluated. In nature the only unbounded growth is cancer with fatal consequences. What we need is sustainable good life as opposed to a continuous stream of newer goods with more features that we do not use while 90% of the profits go to the 1%.

For most of history human and wildlife populations have been relatively constant. This did not prevent humanity to achieve amazing feats such as building the great pyramids or making great scientific discoveries. But for the last 200 years the pace of "progress" has exploded while everything else has imploded.

This trend is not sustainable. We need less greed, more equality, and circular sustainable economies rather than unadulterated growth.
