"I thought Rhapsody was to make it possible to run either OS."

No. Rhapsody is an OS that can run on either platform (Intel or PowerPC) In my opinion the Mac PowerPCs are superior machines. However, the Mac OS for all it's merits could be improved.

If there were a competing OS on a kick-ass G3 platform, then you would see some real OS competition and development. If you could get Microsoft to develop a G3 OS, then I think Motorola and IBM would also increase their development efforts.

Once these power get rolling, the cloners would jump in with making the boxes. Then it would be a matter of what OS do you want to put in it?
