The crucial difference is people are dying now despite Biden's efforts to get everyone to fully vaccinate. It is the various Republican Party media mouthpieces who are the ones who continually discourage people from getting vaccinated or wearing masks and generally taking the virus as a serious threat. And, despite Trump's recent bland endorsement of vaccination, while he was president he didn't encourage people to take COVID seriously and he continually lied about it, especially in the first few critical months, despite knowing the truth. But let's agree to ignore any differences and only pay attention to one variable--the number of deaths. Let's not look at why this is so. As WSJ notes, we recount all this not to blame Mr. Biden for this year’s Covid deaths. The truth last year and this year is that the virus is impossible for any politician to control, much less eliminate. Actually, that isn't true either. Many countries have dealt with it far better than the US. At least, before omicron appeared they did.
