Block chain ‘invented’ in 2008 in the form of bitcoin
Smart contract came considerably later, say in earnest w/ tee-up of Ethereum, but Ethereum has many and possibly too many limitations
I am guessing that blockchain today is at equivalent of internet 1993-94, and not 1998-99
In the meantime the holiday season nearly over and has been great fun …
Sent Jack camping, but also watched him play network gaming as he leads his gang on fairly well-planned heists, including elements w/r to clean getaway, contingency plan, rearguard action, hiding the loot (in case of death and respawn, only 200 $ lost out of his NAV
He saves his pennies, but also lives well (living cost game-money) from his crew’s work :0)
He even has a self-deprecating on-line name. He is definitely the leader of the gang, dreaming up the next heist and how best to do.
He doesn’t get to play on-line games unless Friday night and Saturday afternoon / night, but holidays he is on free-flow as long as he gets reading and kung fu and real person playgroups done. Of course when he is in playgroup w/ his gang members, they discuss the coming heist in some detail.
He has a nice apartment, office, and garage :0) No sign of in-game girlfriend. He rents the office and bought the apartment.
He also knows that if he is ‘drunk’, bad things happen, especially if he is not careful, and a gang member somehow caught the curiosity of the police, and he cannot shoot straight, run fast, or drive well. So he does not touch alcohol even in game play. He is ‘based’ in Cuba of all places, but the heists happen all around, except in Cuba. He meets his crew at some social club to plan out heists.
He assigns his crew to specific research tasks in preparing for heists. The in-game computers work, and some details are searched up by using Google.
He saves and invests (in the share market using his in-game phone and in-game computer) for the future even as part of the game, and so he is able to finance / buy certain equipment (helicopters, submarines) that others are not. The advantage of having the right equipment turns out to be substantial.
He does pay for some safe-house rentals.
:0)
Given that he did do very well academically in the past semester, I, as promised, got him a 5G iPhone, and an eSIM -enabled Apple Watch that allows Dick-Tracy-esque wrist phone calls.
Brave new world.
In his city-simulation game, he plays with zoning laws, building permissions, and tax policies, and balances public / private initiatives.
When I was 11, I was not where Jack is.
