Yes, I have a view on why Dr Malone seems to be central to mRNA research. ... Simple, he was there early and was effective. This would be like asking why Dr. George Church is central to DNA synthesis research. Same answer, he was there early and was very good.

They were recruiting doctoral students in the field and guiding research. This is their life-long focus, they met everyone at conferences and shared ideas over drinks.
